Psychotherapy
The clinical issues of focus in my private practice include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Difficulty with life transitions or life stressors
- Grief and loss
- Mild alcohol and/or cannabis use disorders***
I understand that this list is very general. When you contact me initially, we will discuss the issues that bring you into treatment to ensure that they fall within the scope of issues I am trained in and have experience treating successfully.
***Please note that I do not have 24-hour answering service coverage. As such, I do not treat individuals who are struggling with chronic suicidal thoughts or behaviors in my private practice. Please consider this in determining if my practice is the right fit for your needs.***
Telehealth
My primary service delivery modality isthrough the use of an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing Telehealth platform. Research supports that the use of Telehealth for the provision of therapy services is just as effective as in person sessions. In fact, many people find that the use of Telehealth for psychotherapy is preferred as it saves them time from having to travel to and from my office. Please refer to my “Consent for Telehealth Consultation” for more information.
Time off of Work/Work Release Paperwork
The focus in my private practice is treatment, not on disability assessments. However, my licensure in the State of Michigan allows for me to complete most companies’ work release paperwork. (Check with your Human Resources Department to make sure that is the case for your employer.)
In special circumstances, I can evaluate on a case-by-case basis to determine if time off work is medically indicated given one’s symptoms, level of functioning, and job tasks/duties at work. Please be aware that research indicates that many times, taking a medical leave of absence from work due to mental health issues is contraindicated, particularly if work is the identified precipitating factor for your mental health issues. As such, I will only recommend time off of work when it is medically indicated.
